ITC Luncheon - 9/9/2008

Tom Sliker, Manager of Financial Systems at Agfirst Farm Credit Bank, provided an excellent overview of web 2.0 concepts and websites.  He discussed the rise of social networking and the new paradigm around "community" based content creation and management.

Tom highlighted the shift from a "one way" exchange of information provided by the traditional Internet sites to the highly collaborative "two way" model of the Web 2.0 based communities.  Examples of this included Wikipedia, blogs, and podcasts.

Finally, Mr. Sliker touched on the need for private enterprise to find ways to leverage Web 2.0 technologies to improve communication, collaboration, and data management.

Our thanks to Tom Sliker for an excellent presentation.
